Traditional tug-of-war ropes in a variety of materials, sizes, and lengths that are sure to meet your needs.

There’s no field day game as classic as tug-of-war, and having the right rope in hand makes all the difference when it comes to pulling your team to victory. Choose from manila, un-manila, and polydacron materials, in a range of lengths, to give your students the perfect tug-of-war experience!

Manila

Offering a non-slip grip that makes pulling, bracing, and anchoring easier, manila ropes are the staple material of traditional tug of war ropes. The rougher texture of manila steadies students as they’re exerting their effort on pulling, while also offering a heft that’s unsurpassed by other rope types for even more confidence when pulling.

Manila ropes come in 1”, 1-1/2”, and 2” dia. The smaller 1” and 1-1/2” sizes are perfect for younger students with smaller grips and less pulling power. 2” dia ropes are great for older students who want more of a challenge and who require more resilience and rigidity from the rope itself.

Un-Manila

Un-manila is a synthetic alternative to manila that’s substantially more lightweight, yet just as durable. Younger students will appreciate the welcoming feel and forgiving weight of this material as they bear down and pull with all their might. The distinct advantage of un-manila is its ability to withstand moisture without shrinking or decomposing.

Available in a 1” dia size, younger ages will be able to easily wrap their hands around the rope for the best grip and focused exertion. As they pull with their arms and shoulders, and push with their legs and hips, students will get a great workout without the fear of rope burn or stinging from splintered materials.

Polydacron

Polydacron offers a moderate heft that’s great for students of any age. This material is also quite a bit smoother than manila and un-manila tug of war ropes, making it more comfortable to grip. Polydacron will not fray or splinter over time like other materials can, presenting longevity and reliability that makes it an ideal investment for institutional use.

Measuring just ¾” dia, this is our thinnest option for tug of war ropes.

Three rope lengths in all 3 types—50’, 75’, and 100’L—provide accommodations for classes of all sizes, the longer the rope, the more students involved!
