Pow'R Ball Activity Set
Players run fast, think quick, and use math and English skills to win big during relay games.
Six math and spelling games help increase fitness, coordination, and agility, while improving academic skills. Players race from one end of the playing area to the other, collecting number or letter balls, then combining them to spell words and learn math skills.
Improve Performance
This activity set includes fun games to help improve English and math skills in a gym class setting. Setup for all of the games is the same. Simply divide your class into 8 equal teams and line the players of each team in relay lines on one side of the playing area. Then, dump out all the balls from the five-gallon bucket and scatter them over the far side of the playing area, opposite the relay lines.
2 such games are Pow'r Ball 1 and 2. During Pow’rBall 1, players run and retrieve the No 1 yellow ball. They then run back to the relay line and tag the next player in line, who then searches for the No 2 yellow ball. This continues for numbers 1-5. After collecting these balls, the next player collects a red ball. Teams continue to gather the red balls until they are gone. Once all of the red balls are gone, the game is over. The team with the most red balls wins.
Pow'r Ball 2 is similar to the first, but the yellow balls can be collected in any order. After teams have 1-5, they may begin collecting red balls. Teams continue until all the red balls are gone, then the team with the most red balls wins.
Full Set of Pow’r Balls
Each set includes an all-purpose 5-gallon storage container in both red and yellow, as well as 70 balls. The balls are made with a coated foam, allowing them to withstand institutional use. There are 40 yellow balls, numbered 1-5, and 30 red balls.
Complete Set includes 75 coated-doam balls, 2 storage baskets, and activity instructions.
Powerful Games
On top of the 2 Pow’r Ball games previously detailed, this set includes an additional 4 games to get your class moving and learning.
In Total Score, teams race to collect the highest numbered yellow balls. Once all the yellow balls are collected, teams move on to red balls until they are all collected. Teams add up the point values on their balls and then each ball counts for 2 points. The team with the highest point total wins.
Play Odd/Even similarly to Pow’r Ball 1. However, the first player in each relay line retrieves an odd-numbered ball, the second retrieves an even number ball and the third collects a ball. Teams repeat this until all the balls have been received and the game ends. The team with the most balls wins.
You can also play Crossword similarly to Pow'r Ball 1. However, players retrieve one lettered ball or one ball from the play area per trip. Players retrieve all the balls until they are gone. Teams have 1 or 2 minutes to spell out as many words as possible in a crossword format on floor. Players may use one ball as a "wild letter" for each word spelled. The team that makes the most word or the most complex words wins (decided by the teacher).
For Longest Word, use the Pow’rBall I and Crossword directions, but after teams have collected all of the balls, they have an additional 1-2 minutes to spell the longest word possible using the balls they have collected. Only 2 red balls may be used as wild letters.
