Lightning-fast thinking and creative communication will win you this group-favorite game!

A modern and more raucous version of Charades, Scattergories is a class pleaser. Scattergories quickly became popular with teachers because it inspires creativity and teaches kids to think on their feet. It’s also the perfect game to build vocabulary, promote information recall, inspire creative "out-of-the-box" thinking, and hone descriptive communication skills.

How to Play

Scattergories is all about fast, creative thinking. The object of the game is to come up with words that begin with a certain letter, based on categories that include everything from sports to food. Each player scores points when they come up with things that no one else does—but they only have seconds to come up with them! The more creative the answers, the more points are scored!

To start, a player picks a category card, which will determine the subject of the next round. Next, a die is rolled to determine which letter will be used for answers. After the 2 are determined, students will have a set amount of time to write their answers. When time is up, it's pencils down! Students compare lists, crossing out any duplicates. Any remaining words are graded on their creativity and complexity. Students can also challenge answers and put them to a group vote.

Includes timer, 26-sided die, Scattergories cards, score sheets, and instructions. For 2-4 teams, ages 13 and up.

CHOKING HAZARD (1). Not for under 3 yrs.
