Boggle

Be inventive and be creative, but above all, be quick as you can while searching for as many words as possible on the 4x4 letter grid before the sand timer runs out. You’ve got 3 minutes, and the longer the word, the higher your score—but you only score points if nobody else has the same word. It’s a fast-paced and furious way to sharpen spelling, vocabulary, word recognition, pattern recognition, and reasoning skills.

How to Play

The object of the game is to make as many words as possible with the randomized letters in the Boggle cube. Players score points based on the letters used and the length of the word, however they only earn points if their opponent hasn’t found the word as well—when both players find a word it cancels out.

The game starts by putting all 16 letter cubes in the Boggle shaker and shaking them to randomize the final letter grid. The grid stays covered until the 3-minute timer is flipped! As soon as the timer is flipped, the grid is revealed and players get to work searching out words. When the time runs out, players compare lists and cross off any duplicated words between them. Any remaining unique words are scored based on the length of the word: 4-letter words are worth 1 point, 5-letters are worth 2 points, 6-letters are worth 3 points, 7-letters are worth 5 points, and words longer than 7 letters are worth 11 points. Highest point total after each round wins!
